My son has been receiving tutoring from Iegsaan for the past three years. The main subjects we focused on were English First Language and Maths. Prior to receiving tuition, my son averaged approximately 50% on each of these subjects. He has a very hectic extra- mural schedule and it was necessary to have him attend extra tuition in subjects where we felt it was necessary.
Over the years with Iegsaan his marks gradually increased and are still on the increase. He is now producing results at a steady 65 -70% average. I am quietly confident that this will improve even more given that my son will be starting with grade 10 from next year and is showing signs of maturing into a young adult where education priorities are starting to settle into his “make-up”.
I attribute his achievements and general attitude to his work to the undivided attention Iegsaan gives to his pupils. The teaching environment has a homely and personal touch to it, which provides a sense of security and belonging. This is all conducive to providing an environment where learning can be optimally achieved. Iegsaan has an amazing attitude towards his approach and interaction with the pupils which ultimately culminates into a successful relationship.
We will, without hesitation, encourage all parents to consider Iegsaan’s service offering if your child is struggling at school, or just requires to “up” his/her outputs at school.
In 2017, in my then capacity as the founding director of JIAS (Johannesburg Institute of Advanced Study – University of Johannesburg), I briefed Iegsaan Ally on an outreach project.
The project aimed to create opportunities for high-achieving learners from challenging socio-economic backgrounds to engage with top-ranked academics.
His work was done timeously, meticulously and showed insight and imagination. Had the project taken root, it would have laid the foundation for further initiatives of a similar nature.
As educational consultant, I found Iegsaan Ally to be reliable, and passionate about the transformation potential of education.
Accordingly, I can highly recommend him.
Thank you.
My name is Nadia Harris and I am a Medical Doctor. I currently practice at clinics within the Sedibeng District of Gauteng. I had the honour of Mr. Ally being my Mathematics and Life Orientation teacher in the 10th and 11th grade.
With a subject as challenging as Mathematics, especially in the last three years of high school, it was a pleasure to have been taught by someone who not only is excellent at the work content, but approaches the subject with creativity and patience. He made the classroom a fun place to be in, making the work itself less intimidating. My love for the subject started in his class and led me to achieve above 90% in my matric final.
Life Orientation was just as enjoyable. His way of teaching definitely contributes to free thinking and applied knowledge because so many of his lessons come from a place of experience. He always challenged us to think differently, innovatively and liberally when it came to matters of the world.
To this day, I still have the benefit of learning from him with every encounter… whether it is via a long ‘catch-up’ phone call or a hearty conversation over tea and biscuits; with topics that range from health, wellness and politics, to faith, science and everything in between.
I am grateful for the contribution he has made to my learning in the classroom so many years ago, and for the privilege to call him a mentor and friend today.
Mr Ally was my Afrikaans teacher for the duration of Grade 10, 11 and 12.
His lessons were always a far cry from what you would expect of an otherwise tedious and intimidating subject. Not only does he have the academic and behavioural competency to teach, he also has a very particular warm energy which he always applied to his lessons and always left one leaving the classroom having fully grasped the intended lesson or principle but also having learnt a thing or two about life. This perfected approach to teaching made for a conducive learning environment and a want for learning. It is this manner of teaching to which I can attribute having achieved a distinction for Afrikaans in Matric.
With an open door policy, you were always guaranteed an opportunity to improve where you fell short. His ability to identify any underlying obstacles in achieving one’s potential is also noteworthy.
I am grateful to him for not only making sure that the academic content was taught with passion, intelligence, patience and fun but extremely grateful for the intuitive interventions made by Mr Ally when sensing that a student required additional support whether academic or emotional.
His life lessons remain with me to this day and he will always come to mind when asked about who my favourite teachers were.
I am certain that he will make a huge positive impact on any learner whom he tutors.
On behalf of the staff, parents and mostly learners, we would like to express our appreciation for the time you gave in order to better equip our matriculant learners in helping them to better prepare for the huge task that lies ahead for them, their matric exams as well as for life at university.
The workshop on improving their study skills was gladly received by all the learners and we know that they are putting it to work in preparation for the June and final exams. During my informal discussions with them, while enquiring whether they are preparing to study, they informed me that they are putting the skills you taught them to practice.
Some of the quotes from the learners clearly express this:
“Today I have learnt different ways to study, and what to do before and after studying. I have learnt that it is not just a matter of opening a book and reading.” Taris
“I have learnt about goal setting and study plans and now I am looking forward to the exams.” Warwick
“I have learnt a new method of studying and know I will study best.” Tyrell
These are just a few quotes from learners after the workshop, and it is a reflection of the entire group.
Once again, thank you for taking of your time to invest in our learners. We believe that by investing in our learners you have invested in their future and ultimately in the future of our country as they may become our future leaders.
We look forward to improved results where the fruits of your labour will be realised.
As the founder of one of South Africa’s top tier boutique law firms, ranked top 10 by DealMakers South Africa, I am proud to say that all my achievements could not have been possible without the mastery and passion of Mr Ally, whose genius lies not only in his abilities as an academic but his ability to fuse academia with the real world and carve in a young learner’s mind, the belief that even he, can contribute to that world.
I was happy when I reconnected with Mr Ally a few years ago, but what made me most happy, was when he told me that he would be starting his own tuition business. No doubt, this business will allow yet more minds, to be carved so that more of us, can contribute and build this great nation of ours.
To any learner enrolled or thinking of being enrolled at I ACE, if there is one thing I know for sure – is that, if you do your part, they will help you realise your dreams.
Kindest Regards,
It was never a doubt that requesting Uncle Iegsaan to be my mentor for my University Mathematics module would not be a pass. As his experience and longevity has proven his results for a long time coming. Both my daughters have been students of his class and excellent results was never unnoticed.
During COVID online class would be given and these classes were always on time and if the laptop was not working the cellphone would be used instead, therefore you knew your online class would take place no matter what. The last time I studied Mathematics was close to 31 years ago and people would comment of how crazy I was to enroll for this module. But this module was a requirement to enlist for the programme I needed to do at the University. Commencing the Mathematics module, I was very green, but with sufficient guidance, patience and to almost reinventing the wheel was definitely a must for me if I was to pass this module. Uncle Iegsaan knew this as exercises from high school books were given to me to practice and to make sure I could already see the answers before calculating them. Mathematics to everyone I know is a very tricky and a difficult subject to understand, there are many ways in calculating a sum but still come out with the correct one. I was taught both ways and to then be comfortable to choose the one that works for me. Homework was never a boring task but an exercise to practice your brain to think out the box and it turned out that I began to LOVE and enjoy my Math. To know that you can take a task that looks like Greek and a whole page later you can understand this foreign language and still translate it into English.
I enjoyed so much learning from Uncle Iegsaan. He was not only a mentor for me in my Math, but in my life too. At the time we commenced our tutoring was the same time I lost my dear dad to Covid, and we were also in a process of moving house that I lived in for over 20 years. His advice, patience and knowledge truly kept my head above water. Thanks to Uncle Iegsaan I now have been conditionally accepted to do my Honours Degree at The University of Johannesburg in 2023 and I am still keen to do a Master’s Degree, if God permits.
We go through life so fast these days and never stop and say THANK YOU, so from the bottom of my heart SHUKRAAN, THANK YOU so much Uncle Iegsaan for never giving up on me and for your patience and guidance through my trials and tribulations of life, and to reinventing the wheel.
You were truly an angel that the Almighty gave me during this time.
May the Almighty grant you all your doahs and may His angels always keep you and your family safe.
Yours sincerely
